MIRPUR – Bangladesh strengthened their position against Pakistan by reaching 380 for 7 in the first innings on the second day of the Test match, with experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim guiding the innings with an unbeaten knock after valuable contributions from the top order. After resuming play, Bangladesh added 79 runs during the morning session and continued to frustrate the Pakistani bowling attack in difficult hot and humid conditions. The hosts also recorded their highest first-innings Test total against Pakistan. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 101, while Mominul Haque made 91 to lay a solid foundation for the innings. Mushfiqur remained unbeaten on 71 at the end of the session and played a key role in keeping Pakistan’s bowlers under pressure. For Pakistan, fast bowler Mohammad Abbas was the standout performer with figures of 4 for 73. He provided crucial breakthroughs after Bangladesh appeared set for an even bigger total. Bangladesh started the day aggressively, with Litton Das hitting three consecutive boundaries off Shaheen Shah Afridi early in the morning. However, after the brisk start, the home side adopted a cautious approach to avoid losing quick wickets with the relatively new ball. Litton and Mushfiqur built a steady partnership and comfortably rotated the strike before Abbas broke the stand with a surprise short delivery. Litton attempted an attacking shot but was caught by substitute fielder Amad Butt. Abbas struck again soon after when Mehidy Hasan Miraz was dismissed while trying to attack the pacer. He later removed Taijul Islam with another short ball to claim his fourth wicket of the innings. Despite Pakistan’s late breakthroughs, Bangladesh remained in a commanding position with Mushfiqur still unbeaten at the crease. Pakistan bowl first against Bangladesh in first Test
