Security forces eliminated 27 militants in a series of intelligence-based operations carried out in the Miran Shah region of North Waziristan over the last 72 hours. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said troops targeted several militant hideouts during the IBOs, leading to heavy gun battles in different locations. “Following intense fierce exchanges of fire, in last seventy two hours, twenty seven khwarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij have been sent to hell”, the ISPR said. The military added that the operation also avenged the recent killing of noted local elder Malik Saifullah Dawar, who had been shot dead in Miranshah, saying those behind the murder had now been dealt with. The ISPR further stated that clearance operations were still underway to ensure no militants remained in the area, reiterating that anti-terror actions under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam campaign would continue until militancy is completely wiped out. Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful counterterrorism operations in North Waziristan.
