On Wednesday, ISPR said the tragedy occurred when the Mi-17 helicopter went down shortly after takeoff, reportedly due to a suspected technical malfunction. The military confirmed that there were no survivors, and a formal board of inquiry has been launched to determine the exact cause of the crash. Residents in nearby areas reported hearing a deafening blast followed by thick smoke rising from the crash site, as panic and chaos unfolded in seconds. Rescue teams rushed to the scene within minutes, where officials later confirmed the recovery of approximately 20 bodies, all reportedly identifiable. The crash site was swiftly cordoned off by security forces, with access restricted as recovery and investigation efforts continued. Some reports also suggested limitations on civilian filming of the aftermath.
