Here's the logic behind AMC's capital raise: The company plans to use most of the proceeds to redeem all $125.5 million of its 6.125% senior subordinated notes due 2027, according to its SEC filing. Fully repaying that debt lowers interest costs and clears out a repayment deadline that is set to arrive soon. Roth Capital Partners served as the sole placement agent. The offering closed on June 25, and AMC expects net proceeds of about $189 million after fees. The trouble investors have with this move is timing.
