Under the programme, 100,000 e-bikes will be provided to students within a year, while the Punjab government will offer financial support on each bike. Monthly Installment Students will be able to obtain e-bikes by paying a monthly installment of only Rs2,100. The installment plan will be interest-free and designed to make the scheme more accessible for young students. Down Payment Students applying for the e-bike scheme will be required to pay an initial down payment of Rs14,000. The chief minister will personally cover the down payment and registration charges for female students. Subsidy Amount The Punjab government will provide a subsidy of Rs70,000 on each e-bike under the scheme to reduce the financial burden on students. The meeting was also informed that government employees in Punjab will be eligible to acquire e-bikes through easy installment plans.
