Affordable Chrysler SUVs will be spun from Fiat, but don’t call it badge engineering.
Chrysler is ready for a rebirth, says Ralph Gilles, Stellantis global design chief and the man who must sign off on the look for that renaissance. The brand is ripe for reinvestment and will use the opportunity to win back customers it walked away from, Gilles says.
The brand has been winnowed down to a single model: the Chrysler Pacifica minivan. But under the automaker’s five-year Fast Lane 2030 plan, Chrysler has three models coming, all starting below $40,000. “The roots of the Chrysler brand are still there, reinvigorated even more today,” says Gilles who has been with Stellantis since 1992. “Chrysler is being reborn.”
