But the western region commander, Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland, today told a media conference that the body was found between the two main search areas. "Obviously, we were going back over areas that we had previously searched with the thought that Mr Ingram may have gone back to those locations, but it appears that he's gone directly to this location and either that day or some time very shortly after may have committed suicide," he said. Police have set up a crime scene at the location in the Round Hill National Park as they continue working to identify the body. The shocking crime on January 22 took three lives, including Mr Ingram's pregnant ex-partner Sophie Quinn, her friend John Harris and her aunt Nerida Quinn. (Supplied) Found around 50 kilometres from the town where the shootings occurred, 37-year-old Mr Ingram was on an overgrown red-dirt fire trail few would have ever travelled. Assistant Commissioner Holland said the body had now been removed. "There was a firearm located next to the deceased body, which was a large calibre firearm, and a shotgun located at the front passenger seat of the vehicle," he said. (Supplied: NSW Police) A post-mortem is expected to be conducted in Newcastle this Friday, where police will be able to confirm whether the body found is that of Mr Ingram. It is also expected that the vehicle and the firearms, one of which is thought to have been used during the shooting, will undergo forensic testing in Orange. Police believe Mr Ingram died by suicide, but a coroner will make that determination at a later date. Assistant Commissioner Holland said while police had searched far and wide for the wanted man based on sightings by the public, his body was ultimately found between the two major search areas. The search for Julian Ingram prompted a major police operation since late January. "The initial focus was on the Nombinnie State Forest, with the original days after the event being that a male with a firearm may have been sighted on the highway towards Mount Hope. "The area the deceased has been located is more towards Euabalong." Mount Hope is located an hour north-west of Lake Cargelligo. (ABC News) Lachlan Shire Mayor John Medcalf said it was time for the community to find solace and healing. “We acknowledge that the development will not bring victims back, but it will allow the community to breathe a collective sigh of relief," he said. "We are a resilient community, but today my heart goes out to the people of Lake Cargelligo, the first responders, the support services, and Lachlan Shire Council staff that all form the fabric of our community."
