Pakistan, China mark 75 years of diplomatic ties in Islamabad

ISLAMABA – A grand reception was held in the federal capital to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, highlighting the enduring strategic partnership and decades-long friendship between the two countries. The ceremony was attended by top political leadership, senior officials, diplomats, and dignitaries from both sides. President Asif Ali Zardari graced the occasion along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq were also present. Pakistan Observer Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Faisal Zahid Malik also graced the ceremony. The Chinese delegation was led by Cao Dafeng, who attended as head of the visiting delegation. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong also participated in the event. Speakers on the occasion reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further deepen cooperation in multiple fields, including trade, investment, infrastructure development, and regional connectivity under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). They described the Pakistan–China relationship as a time-tested partnership based on mutual trust and shared interests. The event also reflected on the historical evolution of bilateral ties, which have expanded from diplomatic engagement to a broad-based strategic cooperation encompassing economic, defense, and cultural collaboration. Leaders emphasized that the friendship between Pakistan and China continues to serve as an important pillar of regional stability and development. The both sides pledged to strengthen the all-weather strategic partnership and advance joint efforts for regional peace, prosperity, and connectivity in the coming years.
