Algeria has announced a major overhaul of its investment system aimed at accelerating project approvals, reducing bureaucracy, and strengthening economic efficiency under a new “Single Window” reform framework. Speaking at a media event on the new legal provisions governing the investment system, Prime Minister Sifi Gharib said the government is entering a new regulatory phase designed to modernise how investment proposals are processed and approved in the country. Under the revised system, investor applications will now be processed within 15 days as a general rule, while projects involving classified establishments will be reviewed within 20 days. In addition, the Algerian Investment Development Agency (ADIA) has been instructed to respond to requests related to economic land within 48 hours after board decisions. Officials said the reforms are intended to eliminate administrative delays, streamline procedures, and ensure faster conversion of approved projects into operational businesses. According to figures shared by the Prime Minister, more than 20,000 investment projects have been registered since the introduction of the previous investment framework in 2022. These projects represent a declared value of approximately $67.5 billion and are expected to generate more than 525,000 jobs. The government described the reform as a shift from fragmented administrative processes to a unified and integrated system, where the Single Window acts as a central authority responsible for processing, approving, and finalising investor-related decisions. Under the new structure, representatives from different departments within the one-stop investment platforms will no longer serve as intermediaries. Instead, they will be granted full authority to examine files, issue approvals, and complete administrative procedures on the spot. The reforms also expand the role of the investment agency to cover all stages of project development, from establishment to operational launch. Authori
