LAHORE – The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P) has clarified the procedure for reissuing passports to Pakistani citizens who lose their travel documents, stating that applicants must pay the required fee and complete all legal formalities. According to the guidelines, individuals reporting a lost passport are required to provide a police report that includes details of the previously issued passport number. In cases where the number is not available, applicants may obtain it from the nearest Regional Passport Office by submitting a written request along with copies of their CNIC or NICOP, or a Child Registration Certificate (CRC) in the case of minors. For Pakistanis residing abroad, additional provisions apply. If an individual loses their passport for a third time, the relevant Pakistan Mission abroad may assess the case. In situations where the applicant is considered gainfully employed and the request is deemed valid, the mission will forward the case to the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports for further instructions. Passport Fee in case of 1st Lost In case of 1st-time loss, the double fee would be charged for passport, on second-time loss, it shall be quadruple. Under the current fee structure for lost passport, a 36-page passport costs Rs9,000 on the normal processing basis and Rs15,000 on the urgent basis for a 5-year validity period. For a 10-year validity period, the fee rises to Rs13,400 for normal processing and Rs22,400 for urgent processing. A 72-page passport is priced at Rs16,400 for normal processing and Rs27,000 for urgent processing with 5-year validity. For a 10-year validity period, the fees are Rs24,800 and Rs40,400, respectively. For a 100-page passport, applicants are required to pay Rs18,000 for normal processing and Rs36,000 for urgent processing for 5-year validity. The corresponding fees for a 10-year validity passport are Rs27,000 under the normal category and Rs54,000 under the urgent category.
