ISLAMABAD – All citizens of Pakistan are entitled to the passport for travelling abroad, subject to completion of all codal formalities. The passport provides the Pakistani citizens protection while travelling in foreign countries through the good offices of Pakistan Diplomatic Missions. Accordingly, the holder of a valid Pakistan passport, when in a foreign country, is entitled to the protection of diplomatic and consular representative of Pakistan in that country. Passports are issued in two major types – Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) and e-Passport. Each type is further divided into the following subtypes: Ordinary Passport Official Passport Diplomatic Passport Emergency Travel Document Ordinary Passport is issued to all citizens of Pakistan for travel abroad after they pay certain fee. The Directorate General of Immigration & Passport has outlined the processing durations for Machine Readable Passports (MRPs). Passports issued under the Fast Track category will be delivered within 2 working days. The Urgent category requires 5 working days, while the Normal category will take 14 working days for delivery after successful processing. Latest Passport Fee in 2026 Under the fast track category, a 36-page passport will cost Rs12,500 for five years and Rs 16,200 for ten years of validity. The 72-page version is priced at Rs18,500 for five years and Rs25,200 for ten years, while the 100-page passport will be issued at Rs23,000 for five years and Rs32,000 for ten years. On the other hand, for a 36-page passport, the normal fee is Rs 4,500 for five years and Rs 6,700 for ten years, while urgent processing costs Rs7,500 and Rs. 11,200 respectively. The 72-page passport is priced at Rs. 8,200 for five years and Rs. 12,400 for ten years under normal processing, with urgent fees of Rs. 13,500 and Rs. 20,200. For the 100-page passport, citizens will pay Rs. 9,000 for five years and Rs. 13,500 for ten years under standard processing, while urgent applications are Rs. 18,000
