GILGIT – A French mountaineer has died after an avalanche struck K6 Peak also known as Baltistan Peak in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region, according to information provided by the Alpine Club. The incident occurred in the Hushé Valley of Ghanche district, a popular destination for international climbing expeditions. The deceased climber was part of a three-member international mountaineering team attempting the peak. Officials said the avalanche hit the team while they were in the K6 area.
