US-Iran deal a ‘political nightmare’ for Netanyahu, analysts say

WASHINGTON: The US-Iran agreement has placed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in one of the most difficult political positions of his career, leaving him squeezed between Washington, Tehran, domestic critics, and an approaching election. For decades, Netanyahu built his political identity around three interconnected themes: his ability to influence United States policy, his determination to confront Iran, and his reputation as Israel’s ultimate guarantor of security.
