Pakistani News Channel’s Website Hacked by India’s ‘HIND CYBER GHOST’ group
Why this matters: local context for readers following news across Pakistan and the region.
LAHORE – The Urdu news website of Pakistani broadcaster Samaa TV was hacked as unidentified cyber attackers defaced the platform, replacing its homepage with their own branding and issuing a warning to the media organization. The defaced page prominently displayed the “Hind Cyber Ghost” logo along with the message “No System Is Secure.” The attackers identified themselves as “Jordan X Alpha 02” and embedded a “Play Music” option on the compromised webpage. The hackers claimed it had “owned the entire platform” of the Pakistan-based news channel. Samaa TV was “just another demo” and warned that additional targets could follow, the message said. The hackers also referenced Geo News, claiming they had previously spared the broadcaster before allegedly targeting Samaa TV. The group used multiple hashtags linked to Indian cyber collectives and claimed an affiliation with India, although those claims remain independently unverified. After reported breach, the news website became inaccessible, with visitors encountering a 502 Error page generated by Amazon CloudFront. The message stated that CloudFront was unable to connect to the origin server, preventing the website from loading. While such an error can occur after a cyber incident, it can also result from server or configuration problems and does not, by itself, confirm the nature of the outage. At the time of publication, the news channel had not issued an official statement regarding the incident, and it remains unclear whether any internal systems or user data were compromised. The identity of the attackers and their claimed affiliation have not been independently verified. CDA billing system targeted in cyberattack, hackers demand bitcoin ransom
