RAWALPINDI – A woman working at a pizza shop becomes victim of a sexual assault, with perpetrators going so far as to record the crime and use it for blackmail. According to police reports, the incident occurred in early hours of the morning. The victim had just finished her shift around 5:30 am and was walking home along Adiala Road when three men on a motorcycle intercepted her. A coworker, Muhammad Ali, happened to arrive at the scene, but instead of deterring the attackers, both individuals were forcibly taken by the suspects to deserted building near a housing society. Ali was separated and made to sit aside, helpless, while one of the attackers carried out the assault. The suspect recorded the entire act on video. The footage was later sent directly to Muhammad Ali’s phone, turning the crime into a tool for ongoing blackmail. The suspects allegedly used video to maintain pressure on victim and her coworker, even forcing a money transfer of Rs. 3,500 through Muhammad Ali’s phone to an unknown number. Police from Saddar Beroni registered a case and confirmed that efforts are underway to track down and arrest the culprits. Authorities also stated that the victim will undergo a medical examination as part of the investigation. The incident sparked outrage and concern over the safety of working women, especially those traveling during early hours, and highlights the growing misuse of technology in facilitating and extending criminal acts.
