LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought a detailed report from police regarding the network of Anmol, also known as “Pinky,” who was recently arrested on charges of drug trafficking. Sources indicated that the Counter Crime Department (CCD) has initiated a formal investigation into Anmol’s alleged network. The suspect’s purported husband, former police inspector Rana Ikram, has also been summoned for questioning. CCD is expected to interrogate him regarding the ongoing case. Additionally, there is a possibility that Anmol may be brought to Lahore in connection with a case registered there. It has been reported that Anmol was not declared a proclaimed offender in the case registered at Kot Lakhpat. The arrest follows a successful operation by Garden Police in Karachi, where Anmol was taken into custody. Recently, a separate case against her brother emerged in Lahore. According to Lahore police, in January 2022, Anmol’s brother, Riaz Baloch, was intercepted by police while attempting to distribute drugs in a luxury car in Shadab Colony. Anmol reportedly fled the scene by driving the car away. Riaz Baloch was later charged on 7 January 2022. In a coordinated crackdown on a cocaine distribution network, police, with assistance from federal intelligence agencies, achieved a significant breakthrough. Senior police officials confirmed that a key associate of Anmol, along with another accomplice, was taken into custody during a late-night raid based on technical intelligence. Initial investigations suggest that the arrested suspect was responsible for handling multi-million-rupee transactions generated from drug sales in Karachi. Payments from various customers in Karachi were channeled through this individual before reaching other members of the network.
