SBP Unveils FY27 MPC Schedule, Expands Post-Meeting Briefings

Pakistan Observer · Jun 23, 2026, 3:23 PM

Why this matters: local context for readers following news across Pakistan and the region.

The State Bank of Pakistan has unveiled its advance calendar for Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meetings for fiscal year 2027 as part of ongoing efforts to improve transparency, predictability, and communication around monetary policy decisions. In a move aimed at strengthening stakeholder confidence, the SBP has increased the number of post-MPC press conferences from two to four annually. These briefings, to be led by the SBP Governor, will now take place after MPC meetings scheduled in July, October, January, and April. The central bank has also introduced a new transparency measure by deciding to publish presentations prepared by its staff for post-MPC analyst briefings. These presentations will be uploaded to the official SBP website one day after each MPC meeting, providing greater insight into the institution’s data-driven policy decisions and overall reaction framework. Additionally, the process for releasing MPC meeting minutes has been streamlined. Going forward, minutes of each meeting will be made available on the SBP website by the end of the fourth week following the respective MPC session. According to the central bank, all these initiatives are reflected in a more detailed advance calendar for MPC meetings. The latest steps form part of the SBP’s broader Vision 2028 strategic plan, which focuses on improving monetary policy effectiveness, stabilising inflation expectations, and paving the way for formally adopting an inflation-targeting framework in Pakistan.
