ISLAMABAD – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), adding further pressure on household energy costs. According to the revised notification, LPG prices have been increased by Rs4.95 per kilogram. As a result, the price of a domestic 11.8 kg cylinder has gone up by Rs58.51. For June, the price of an LPG cylinder has been set at Rs3,643.41, while the new per-kilogram rate has been fixed at Rs308.76. The revised prices have come into effect immediately. Officials linked the adjustment to ongoing instability in global energy markets amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, which continue to impact fuel prices worldwide. Earlier, relief for inflation hit Pakistanis on Eid as the federal government reduced fuel prices across Pakistan, cutting both petrol and diesel rates by Rs22 per litre. The price of petrol has been reduced from Rs403.78 to Rs381.78 per litre, while diesel has dropped from Rs402.78 to Rs380.78 per litre. The government said the decision was taken as part of its continued effort to provide relief to the public, with the announcement made on the third day of Eid. The Prime Minister’s Office stated that easing financial pressure on citizens remains a top priority, adding that support measures have continued even under difficult economic conditions. These include fuel subsidies for public transport users, goods transport operators, motorcycles, and rickshaw owners.
