Porsche Porsche is planning to reduce its production capacity to better align with falling demand. Between struggling with sales in China and the discontinuation of the Macan and 718 lineups in Europe, the automaker's 2025 sales fell by more than 40,000 units from their 2023 peak. Speaking to the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Porsche CEO Michael Leiters announced his expectation that the company will earn more money with fewer sales. Porsche's got a sales problem on its hands. After selling a record 320,221 cars globally in 2023, the automaker has been chasing that high with limited success. The brand's sales have taken an especially sharp nosedive in China, and globally, Porsche's sales fell to 279,449 units in 2025. Then there are the 718 and Macan lineups. The former is currently out of production globally, with the latter out of production for Europe. Still, Porsche CEO Michael Leiters is optimistic that the brand can increase profits even if it builds and sells fewer cars.
