Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday said Tehran remains committed to both diplomacy and national defence after suspending attacks on Israel following the first military exchange since the April ceasefire. In a post shared on X, Pezeshkian stated that Iran had not stepped away from either negotiations or confrontation, describing diplomacy and defence as “two pillars of national strength”. — Masoud Pezeshkian (@drpezeshkian) June 8, 2026 He further warned that Iran would not back down in the face of threats, stressing that the country remained firm in protecting its interests while continuing diplomatic engagement. “Our priority is national security and the peace of our people. We will defend the rights of the nation with authority and will not retreat in the face of any threat”, the post reads. “Diplomacy and defense are the two wings of national power; we have neither abandoned the field nor the negotiating table. God willing, with unity and rationality, Iran will emerge triumphant from this trial as well”, the post further reads. Iran halts attacks on Israel, warns against strikes on Lebanon
