It was there from the start — with Bernie Sanders bedeviling Hillary Clinton while now-President Trump was tormenting Jeb Bush in 2015. The storyline went that Americans, fed up with the excesses of the elites, were embracing outsiders with radical ideas. It was, we heard, America s populist moment.
