ISLAMABAD – Multiple roads have been closed in Islamabad from May 9 to 10, 2026 due to ongoing VIP movements and security measures as Pakistan set to mark first anniversary of the Mark-e-Haq. Sources said from 12:00 am on May 9 to 12:00 am on May 10, all Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) entry towards Islamabad and Rawalpindi via GT Road will remain closed. Heavy vehicles will also be barred from entering Punjab via Attock Bridge. Multiple VIP movements are expected after 6:00 pm, particularly around the Red Zone, as a high-profile event takes place. In addition, fighter jets will be flying over the area and releasing flares; authorities have urged the public not to panic. Faizabad terminals will remain closed during this period, and commuters are advised to allow an extra 45 minutes to one hour for their journeys. Travelers are encouraged to plan accordingly to avoid delays. Pakistan to Celebrate First Anniversary of Marka-e-Haq Tomorrow Pakistan will mark the first anniversary of ‘Marka-e-Haq’ on Sunday (May 10) with celebrations reflecting patriotism, national unity, and enthusiasm across the country. The main event will take place at the historic Pakistan Monument in Shakarparian, Islamabad. Although events and special activities began nationwide on May 1, the central ceremony on May 10 will be the largest and most prominent. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir are expected to deliver special addresses during the event.
