More rainfall of varying intensities, accompanied by gusty winds, is expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Heavy rains and hailstorms are also expected at some places during the forecast period. Synoptic Situation According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a seasonal low lies over north Balochistan and adjoining areas. A westerly wave is affecting upper parts, while moist currents from the Arabian Sea are also penetrating the upper and central parts of the country. PMD Forecast Under these conditions, more rain accompanied by gusty winds is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Noor Pur Thal, Layyah, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajapur, Tunsa and Multan. Isolated heavy rain and hailstorms may also occur during the period. Windstorms, hailstorms and lightning could damage vulnerable infrastructure like solar panels, electricity poles and billboards. Heavy rains may also cause urban flooding. Temperatures Lahore’s maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C on Saturday and Sunday and between 35°C and 37°C on Monday.
