Scattered monsoon rains and gusty winds are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Thursday night and Friday. Isolated heavy rains are also expected during the forecast period. Synoptic Situation According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is affecting the western and upper parts of Pakistan. Moist currents from the Arabian are continuously penetrating the upper and central parts of the country. Moist currents from the Bay of Bengal are likely to enter Pakistan from tonight. PMD Forecast Under these conditions, scattered monsoon rains and gusty winds are likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Lahore, Okara, Kasur, Pakpattan, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Noor Pur Thal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur on Thursday night Isolated heavy falls are also expected during the forecast period. On Friday, more rain and gusty winds are likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Khushab, Lahore, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot and Narowal. Rains may also occur in Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan. Impacts Heavy rains may cause urban/flash flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad. Flash flooding may occur in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan. Strong winds may damage weak structures like solar panels, electric poles, and billboards.
