LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the Sehar Programme, a major initiative aimed at empowering women and enhancing their economic independence through vocational and technical training. Under the programme, 5,365 women across Punjab will receive modern skills training from their homes, enabling them to improve their employment prospects and contribute more effectively to the economy. According to officials, the project will cost more than Rs.970 million and is designed to develop a skilled workforce by equipping women with market-relevant expertise. The initiative seeks to expand access to employment opportunities and help participants achieve financial self-sufficiency. The Sehar Programme will offer training in a range of sectors, including beauty and wellness services, hospitality, and digital technology. As part of the initiative, beautification and cosmetology courses will also be conducted in collaboration with the private sector for 2,065 women across four districts. A key feature of the programme is the support package provided to trainees. Participants will receive laptops, internet devices, data packages, and monthly stipends to facilitate their learning and ensure uninterrupted access to training resources. Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz Sharif extended her best wishes to women enrolled in the programme and those who complete their training.
