Maryam urges unity, tolerance on start of new Islamic year

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has called on citizens to promote patience, tolerance and unity during Muharram, stressing the need to avoid division and sectarian discord. In her message marking the beginning of the new Islamic year, the chief minister expressed hope that the year would bring peace, security and prosperity to Pakistan and the wider Muslim world. I pray that the new Hijri year becomes a source of unity and solidarity for the Muslim Ummah and a year of peace and development for Pakistan, she said. Maryam Nawaz also prayed for happiness, stability and prosperity for the country, describing the new Islamic year as a blessing for Pakistan, its people and the Muslim world. Referring to the significance of Muharram, she said the month serves as a reminder of the great sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
