KARACHI – Pakistani television personality Fakhr-e-Alam has shared details about performing Hajj alongside former cricketers Wasim Akram and Misbah-ul-Haq, after the trio drew public attention for not shaving their heads following the pilgrimage. In a video message, Fakhr-e-Alam said the group had consulted religious scholars prior to performing Hajj and were informed that pilgrims have two valid options after completing the rituals: either shaving the head or shortening the hair. He said that while shaving the head is considered more virtuous, trimming the hair is also permissible and fulfils the religious requirement. Addressing criticism circulating on social media, he rejected suggestions that the pilgrimage was treated casually. He said Hajj is a deeply spiritual experience that involves continuous worship throughout the day, along with moments of reflection, emotion, and interaction with fellow pilgrims. Fakhr-e-Alam further described Hajj as a unifying experience that brings Muslims from different backgrounds together in worship and brotherhood. The clarification came after photos and videos of the trio during Hajj went viral online, sparking discussion and debate over religious practices and personal choices during the pilgrimage.
