LAHORE – Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab issued province-wide alert warning of dust storms, strong winds, thunderstorms, and widespread rainfall, raising concerns across multiple districts. As per PDMA alert, rain is expected across most parts of Punjab from May 2 to May 4, with some areas likely to experience severe weather conditions including lightning and intense wind activity. Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Bhakkar, Layyah, Rajanpur, Noorpur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas will receive widespread rains. Meteorological conditions suggest that several regions may also experience thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and lightning strikes. In light of directives from Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across the province have been placed on high alert to deal with any emergency situation. PDMA Director General has strongly advised citizens to stay safe during thunderstorms Avoid open fields, trees, and isolated areas during lightning activit, farmers should take precautionary measures according to weather conditions while tourists traveling to northern regions must exercise extreme caution.
