CM Maryam approves Punjab budget for FY2026-27 presentation

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved the presentation of the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 during a meeting of the Punjab Cabinet held on Tuesday. The cabinet meeting, chaired by the chief minister, reviewed various matters related to the upcoming budget and held detailed discussions on fiscal targets and budgetary proposals for the next financial year. According to sources, cabinet members examined a range of recommendations included in the budget, while proposals concerning salaries and pensions of government employees also came under consideration. Participants discussed different budgetary measures and their potential impact on the province’s economy and public finances. Sources said CM Maryam Nawaz formally approved the presentation of the budget, paving the way for its submission to the Punjab Assembly. Separately, a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentary party was also held under the chairmanship of the chief minister. During the session, party lawmakers were directed to ensure maximum attendance at the Punjab Assembly’s budget proceedings.
