Pakistan has announced that technical-level negotiations between the United States and Iran are expected to resume early next week. Speaking to reporters in Islamabad on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said discussions are likely to restart on Tuesday, although Monday or Wednesday also remain possible options. He did not disclose where the upcoming round of talks will take place. Andrabi said the US and Iran have agreed to establish a direct communication channel to prevent misunderstandings or accidental escalation, particularly regarding the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. He further revealed that both sides have also agreed to create a high-level political oversight body that will supervise the mediation process, with chief negotiators expected to provide regular updates to the committee. According to him, the parties have additionally approved a framework designed to secure a final agreement within the next 60 days. As part of efforts to reduce tensions, Andrabi said a separate deconfliction mechanism will also be established involving the Lebanese government alongside mediators participating in the diplomatic process. The developments mark another step forward in ongoing efforts to ease tensions and move toward a broader agreement between the US and Iran.
