ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that internet services have returned to normal across the country after a technical fault in the international SEA-ME-WE 5 (SMW5) submarine cable was successfully repaired. According to the PTA, the fault had temporarily affected internet quality, resulting in slower speeds and connectivity issues for users in several parts of Pakistan. Repair work has now been completed, allowing internet traffic to resume normal operation and services to continue without interruption. The disruption had prompted complaints from users in multiple cities, with many reporting slow internet performance and difficulties accessing online services. Internet monitoring platform DownDetector also recorded connectivity issues in several areas during the outage. The PTA said it had been closely monitoring the situation while repair efforts were underway and confirmed that, with the fault fully resolved, internet services are now operating normally nationwide.
