The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab on Monday issued a weather alert warning of storms and rainfall across several parts of the province from tonight until May 23. According to a PDMA spokesperson, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in most districts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Khushab, and Mandi Bahauddin. Rainfall has also been forecast for Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, and nearby areas. Director General PDMA Umar Javed said that, following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, all commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province had been instructed to remain vigilant and ensure arrangements are in place to respond promptly to any emergency. He advised citizens to stay indoors during lightning and thunderstorms and avoid taking shelter in open areas or beneath trees. Farmers were urged to adopt precautionary measures to protect crops from possible weather-related damage, while tourists planning to visit northern areas were asked to remain updated on weather conditions and exercise caution during travel. The PDMA also appealed to the public to contact its emergency helpline, 1129, in case of any untoward incident or emergency. Zil Hajj Moon Sighted in Pakistan, Eid ul Azha on May 27
