ISLAMABAD – The federal government has decided to extend the tenure of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director General Fawad Asadullah Khan for another four years, according to an official statement. The statement said the decision was made in recognition of Fawad Asadullah Khan’s professional expertise and his effective role in safeguarding national security. It added that the move carries special significance in the context of rapidly changing regional and global security conditions. Fawad Asadullah Khan was appointed Director General of the Intelligence Bureau on April 21, 2022. He is the first officer from the intelligence cadre to be promoted to Grade 22 and appointed as DG IB. The government termed the extension an acknowledgment of his services and experience in handling national security matters.
