LAHORE – The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has issued an important update for beneficiaries of its BISP Kafalat initiative, announcing a shift toward a digital payment system. In line with the cashless economy vision of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, future installments under the Kafalat programme will be disbursed directly into digital wallet accounts linked with a Benazir mobile SIM. BISP has advised all eligible beneficiaries who have not yet obtained their Benazir mobile SIM to visit the nearest BISP office with their personal mobile phones to complete the registration process. The deadline to obtain the free Benazir mobile SIM has been set for 15 June 2026. Earlier this year, the federal government has approved a significant increase of Rs 5,000 in the quarterly stipend for eligible beneficiaries under the BISP Kafalat initiative. The move aimed at providing greater support to the low-income families across the country. Reports said the increase in quarterly payment is expected to benefit approximately 10.2 million BISP recipients across the country. BISP New Quarterly Installment Amount The government has announced increasing the stipend amount from Rs14,500 to Rs19,500 and it will take effect from January 2027.
