QUETTA – Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said on Monday that intelligence agencies foiled a major terror plot by arresting a female suicide bomber from Balochistan, allegedly tasked with carrying out an attack in Islamabad. Addressing a press conference in Quetta, the chief minister said the arrested woman was part of a suicide mission targeting the federal capital. He stated that timely action by intelligence agencies prevented a large-scale tragedy and averted a serious security threat. The chief minister was speaking alongside the detained suspect during the press briefing. He said the operation was carried out on credible intelligence, adding that the woman had been safely recovered before the planned attack could be executed. Mir Sarfraz Bugti praised the intelligence agencies for their swift and effective response, saying their action “saved Pakistan from a major catastrophe.” He added that the suspect would be handed over to her family in a dignified manner after completion of legal formalities. He said militant elements have no connection with Baloch traditions or cultural values. “We want to educate our daughters, while terrorists are trying to turn them into suicide bombers,” he remarked. The chief minister alleged that extremist groups exploit young girls for violent agendas and use coercion and threats. He claimed the arrested woman was threatened that her father would be killed if she refused to carry out the attack. He further stated that such elements were distorting the image of Baloch women and culture for their own purposes. “Baloch women are not part of this war, and such actions have nothing to do with our traditions,” he said. Reaffirming his appreciation for the security agencies, Mir Sarfraz Bugti said their timely intervention had prevented a major loss of life and ensured the safety of citizens. ‘I was being trained for a mission,’ BLA teenage suicide bomber girl unveils
