Why this matters: local context for readers following news across Pakistan and the region.
LAHORE – The dusty winds and a weak rain-bearing weather system are currently affecting Lahore and several districts across Punjab as the light rain is likely in the provincial capital later in the evening, the Meteorological Department said on Monday. The Met Office predicted that the districts in the Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions are likely to receive comparatively heavier rainfall than Lahore as the system moves across the region. Officials said the weather system is weak and is expected to move out of Pakistan by tonight, after which hot and dry conditions will return across most parts of the province from tomorrow. The Met Department added that Lahore is expected to experience a minimum temperature of around 28°C, while the maximum temperature may rise up to 39°C. Residents have been advised to remain prepared for dusty winds during the day, with brief periods of drizzle possible in the evening before the return of dry weather conditions.
