Foreign Degrees Alert: HEC explains which overseas courses may not be recognized after 2026

ISLAMABAD – Higher Education Commission shared fresh advisory that puts spotlight on how foreign degrees are delivered and recognized. As global universities increasingly adopt online and hybrid learning models, the commission has urged students to be more careful than ever before enrolling, warning that not every format will automatically be accepted in Pakistan after Spring 2026. According to the commission, degrees that are officially registered as conventional on-campus programs but are completed entirely through online or blended learning modes will no longer be recognized in Pakistan after Spring 2026, unless such delivery methods are formally approved by the relevant regulatory authority in the university’s home country. The advisory sends clear message to students, verify before you enroll. The statutory body urged all prospective and current international students to ensure that their chosen degree programs are properly accredited and that any required physical attendance or residency obligations are fully met in line with official regulations. The warning applies not only to new applicants planning to study abroad, but also to students already enrolled in foreign universities.
