BAJAUR: A child was killed and a woman injured in a suspected quadcopter attack in the War Mamund tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district on Sunday, police sources told Dawn. The sources said the incident occurred in the Inam Khoro Chinagi area, in which a suspected quadcopter drone was believed to have been fired from an unidentified location. They added that the house of a resident, Hayatullah, was struck in the incident. As a result, Hayatullah’s nine-year-old son, Mehran, was killed, and another family member, 35-year-old Tahira Bibi, was injured. The child’s body and the injured woman were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar, the sources said. One of the police officials said a team reached the site of the incident shortly after it was reported and collected evidence. “An investigation is now under way,” he added. In the recent past, multiple quadcopter attacks have been reported in Bajaur, with one also taking place last month. In the May 21 incident, two schoolchildren were killed after a quadcopter drone, reportedly operated from an unknown location, struck a hilly area of KP’s Bajaur.
