Pakistan impose ban on THIS O-Level book in private schools

ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has imposed a ban on the O-Level textbook “The History and Culture of Pakistan.” “All Private Educational Institutions (PEls) operating within territorial jurisdiction of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) are hereby directed to immediately withdraw subject referred book from their institutions, as well as from their libraries & classrooms, if being used. Managements shall also direct their concerned teachers not to recommend this banned book to their students,” read the official letter. All PEIs have also been directed to ensure that no book shall be prescribed for any class, without prior NOC from the relevant authorities. “Private Educational Institutions shall abide by these directions, in letter and spirit, without fail. The Authority (ICT-PEIRA) shall conduct inspections of schools to verify that the banned book, as well as any book being prescribed or taught in private schools without the requisite NOC from National Curriculum Council Wing (NCCW), Mbo FE&PT, are not in use, as such practice is in contravention of the Education Act, 1976,” the ministry said. It warned that defaulters, if any, shall be liable to prosecution In line with ICT-PEIRA Act, 2013.
