From April 25 to May 1, 2026, Asif Ali Zardari undertook a five-day official visit to China, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. These included construction machinery partnerships for infrastructure projects, a livestock vaccine initiative to improve animal health and collaboration on AI-driven medical robotics. Additional agreements in Changsha covered seawater desalination, agricultural innovation and cooperation in the tea industry. Collectively, these initiatives reflect a widening of bilateral engagement into high-value and technology-driven sectors. At the centre of the visit was the advancement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), particularly its next phase, CPEC 2.0.
