KARACHI – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Aslam R Khan, has passed away after a period of illness. According to PIA officials, he had been unwell for several days and was admitted to a private hospital following a deterioration in his condition. Aslam R Khan had been associated with the national carrier for over six decades. Colleagues described him as a fatherly figure within the organisation, deeply respected for his long-standing service and leadership. Officials said he played an important role in key decisions related to the restructuring of PIA and efforts aimed at restoring the airline’s profitability. He was known for his ability to make timely and difficult decisions, as well as for supporting various welfare initiatives. PIA’s CEO expressed grief over his passing, saying the entire organisation was mourning the loss of a senior and respected leader. He extended condolences and prayed for the deceased’s higher ranks. The funeral prayer will be offered after Friday prayers at his residence in Khayaban-e-Ghazi, Defence, Karachi.
