LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a fine of Rs50,000 for individuals who dispose of animal waste and offals in streets and unauthorized areas during Eidul Azha 2026. To monitor and prevent littering, the provincial government has established vigilance squads. The chief minister has also directed a comprehensive public awareness campaign to discourage the public from discarding waste in prohibited areas. Maryam Nawaz presided over a video-link meeting reviewing foolproof cleanliness arrangements for Eidul Azha. She instructed special cleaning and monitoring of drains, canals, and other public spaces, as well as sanitation in private housing societies. The chief minister emphasized that cleanliness arrangements should also cover railway colonies and cantonment areas.
