Rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and several other parts of Pakistan on Friday night and the next two days, with occasional breaks. Synoptic Situation According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a seasonal low lies over north Balochistan and adjoining areas. A westerly wave is affecting upper parts, while moist currents from the Arabian Sea are also penetrating the upper and central parts of the country. Forecast Under these conditions, rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar region, Upper/Central Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday night and the next two days, with occasional breaks. Dust-raising winds are expected in Sindh and Balochistan during the period. Impacts Windstorms, hailstorms and lightning could damage vulnerable infrastructure, including solar panels, electricity poles and billboards. Temperatures Islamabad and Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C on Saturday and Sunday and between 34°C and 36°C on Monday. Past Weather During the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather persisted across most parts of the country, with very hot conditions prevailing in the plains. However, rain-wind/thunderstorm was recorded at isolated places in Potohar region, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
