Pakistan’s openers weathered a tricky final phase on day three of the second Test against Bangladesh at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday as they pursued a challenging 437-run target to draw level in the series. Pakistan will begin day four with Abdullah Fazal and Azan Awais unbeaten at the crease. Earlier, Bangladesh were dismissed for 390 in 102.2 overs, setting Pakistan a stiff target of 437 runs. The innings was anchored by a superb century from Mushfiqur Rahim, alongside key half-centuries from Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Litton Das. Rahim scored a commanding 137 off 233 balls, hitting 12 fours and a six before being sent back by Sajid Khan. Litton Das added 69 from 92 deliveries, striking five boundaries, while Mahmudul Hasan Joy contributed 52 off 64 balls, decorated with 10 fours. Useful support came through partnerships involving Rahim, particularly with Litton Das and, later, Taijul Islam, helping Bangladesh to strengthen their position. Mominul Haque also chipped in with 30 off 60 balls, including three boundaries. Taijul Islam made 22 off 51, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shoriful Islam added 19 and 12 runs respectively toward the end of the innings. For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad led the bowling effort with 4 for 86 in 20 overs. Sajid Khan claimed three wickets, Hasan Ali picked up two, and Mohammad Abbas took one wicket.
