US, Iran Near One-Page Memo to End Middle East Conflict

The United States and Iran appear to be nearing an agreement on a brief memorandum aimed at bringing the Middle East conflict to an end, according to media reports citing sources involved in ongoing diplomatic efforts. A Pakistani source engaged in the negotiations told an international media outlet that both sides are close to finalising a one-page document, adding that progress has accelerated in recent days. “We are close to wrapping this up,” the source said, echoing a separate report by US media outlet Axios. According to the report, which cited US officials and individuals familiar with the talks, the proposed arrangement could include Iran agreeing to suspend nuclear enrichment activities, while the United States would ease sanctions and release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets. The plan is also said to address the removal of restrictions on transit through the Strait of Hormuz. The report added that Washington is expecting a response from Tehran within the next 48 hours.
