The four-member group left Gwadar for Quetta but never reached their destination. Concern deepened after all contact with them was abruptly lost near Mastung, where their mobile phones were later found switched off. Balochistan Home Department official Babar Yousafzai said the missing officials had been untraceable for more than 24 hours by Thursday afternoon. “All efforts are under way to trace the vice chancellor, pro-vice chancellor and the two individuals travelling with them,” he said. Police officials revealed that the last known communication from the group came from the Khud-Kocha area along the Quetta-Karachi National Highway, a region where security concerns have repeatedly surfaced in the past.
