FINALLY, Pakistan has emerged as a saviour of the world. Even the G7 countries could not do much for global peace, whereas Pakistan has done so single-handedly under the leadership of the world’s greatest military commander, CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir. He has made history and ushered in a new era of peace. His role as a global peacemaker, it is argued, will become part of Ph D programmes at prestigious institutions such as Oxford and Harvard for generations to come. If the world wants peace, then military commanders need to follow the doctrine of the global peacekeeper, Field Marshal Asim Munir, rather than the doctrines of military commanders remembered for war, bloodshed and conquest. History has witnessed figures such as Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte and Adolf Hitler, whose ambitions triggered catastrophic conflicts at the cost of millions of innocent lives. This is not an overnight phenomenon. Pakistan Armed Forces, under the leadership of CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir, have continued a longstanding commitment to peace and stability. For this cause, the people of Pakistan, along with both civilian and military leadership, have made immense sacrifices. The first elected female Prime Minister of the Muslim world, Benazir Bhutto, also made great sacrifices in the struggle against terrorism and extremism. Since entering practical politics in 1977, she faced considerable opposition due to her advocacy of democracy, human rights and an inclusive society. Many regard her as an angel of peace. Martyrs never die and her supporters believe she would have taken pride in Pakistan’s emergence as a contributor to global peace. In 2006, a book titled Women Who Changed the World, published by Smith Davies, highlighted 50 inspirational women in history who transformed societies and left a lasting impact on the world.
