LAHORE – The Punjab government has declared the Green Property Certificate mandatory for any kind of property transactions, with effect from 1 July 2026, to curb illegal practices. The Green Property Certificate is a government-issued document provided by the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) that confirms a property’s ownership details and legal standing. It serves as proof that the property is officially recorded, has no known ownership conflicts, and is verified within government land records. The certificate helps protect property owners’ rights, reduces the risk of land-related disputes, and enables owners to confidently use their property for lawful transactions and financial activities. PLRA has recently clarified the validity and requirement of the Green Property Certificate for property owners. What Is the Validity Period of Punjab’s Green Property Certificate? In response to a query, PLRA stated that the certificate’s status and the information recorded on it remain unchanged as long as there is no new transaction or update related to the property. According to the authority, a fresh change in ownership or any other property transaction may require updated records. PLRA further stated that the Green Property Certificate is mandatory for all types of property dealings. How to Obtain Green Property Certificate 1. Token Issuance & Start of Process: The citizen visits their nearest Arazi Record Center (ARC). After a token is issued, the Service Center Official begins the process for the Green Property Certificate. 2. Details & Fee Payment: Property details are provided, and the required fee is paid at the ARC’s Bank of Punjab counter or via online payment methods (e-Pay). 3. Identity Verification: The citizen’s original CNIC is checked, and biometric verification is conducted via NADRA. Registered mobile numbers and record details (name, father’s name) are also cross-referenced. 4. Review of Ownership History: A review of the property’s history
