More monsoon rain and strong winds with isolated heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Thursday night and the next two days, with occasional breaks. Synoptic Situation According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is affecting the western and upper parts of Pakistan. Moist currents from the Arabian are continuously penetrating the upper and central parts of the country. Moist currents from the Bay of Bengal are likely to enter Pakistan from tonight. Forecast Under these conditions, more monsoon rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. Rains are also likely in the upper areas of Sindh during the period. Impacts Heavy rains may cause landslides in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galyat and Kashmir, besides flash-flooding in local streams/nullahs. Flash flooding may also occur in hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and the local nullah of Northeast Balochistan. Heavy rains may cause urban/flash flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad. Windstorm & lightning may damage weak structures like solar panels, electric poles, and billboards. Temperature Outlook Daytime temperatures in Islamabad and Rawalpindi are expected to remain between 35°C and 37°C on Friday and Saturday. Past Weather Over the past 24 hours, rain and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls occurred in Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
