Why this matters: local context for readers following news across Pakistan and the region.

More rain, accompanied by strong winds and isolated hailstorms, is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several other parts of Pakistan on Tuesday night and Wednesday. The rain is expected to provide some relief from the intense heat that gripped many areas during the day. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), weak moist currents from the Arabian Sea are entering southern parts of the country, while a westerly weather system is likely to affect upper regions through June 5. Partly cloudy weather with windstorms and thunderstorms is forecast for Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Heavy rainfall and hailstorms may occur at isolated locations during the period. Temperatures in Islamabad are expected to remain between 36°C and 38°C on Wednesday and Thursday before slightly dropping on Friday. In Rawalpindi, temperatures are likely to range between 34°C and 35°C over the next two days. During the last 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced hot and dry weather, while plains remained extremely hot. However, isolated rain and thunderstorms were reported in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Islamabad recorded a maximum temperature of 39°C, while Rawalpindi reached 38°C. Rain, wind-hailstorms expected across Punjab until June 5
